Wyoming Tenkara Campout 2026

August 27th-30th

This is our 1st Wyoming Tenkara Campout, it will be held near Alpine Wyoming at the ALPINE NORTH LOOP Group Campground in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. We plan on rotating between this and the Idaho campout every other year, unless we add another near by state like Utah to the mix.

We have reserved 3 medium sized group campsite loops (GS1, GS2, GS3) next to each other. GS1 has a larger parking area and is in the middle so we all have a large meeting area to hang out in the mornings or evenings between fishing and some extra space if you want to camp with us.

I have the campground sites reserved from Thursday 2pm August 27th thru Sunday 12 noon August 30th,. You do not need to be there every day so come when you can.

Registration
Registration is not open yet for this event but we will open it up early in the year 2026.

Meeting Area
We have reserved a large group campsite (GS1) so we all have a large meeting area to hang out in the mornings or evenings between fishing. It will be a great place to come and hang out with lots of other tenkara anglers, share stories, checkout other peoples gear, and maybe learn a few things from each other.

Fishing
There is miles of awesome accessible river to fish in all directions. The valley is full of creeks to fish and a few rivers as well for lots of opportunities to either park and fish or hike and fish. There will be lots of room to spread out and fish and not be crowded in. We are close to the Greys river which spans for miles and miles up the canyon with some great tributary creeks to fish as well, all photos on this page are of the Greys River canyon.

Fishing Licenses
We will be near the Idaho/Wyoming border so you can either choose one of the other or get both fishing licenses. We will be on the Wyoming side of the border and there will be more water to fish on the Wyoming side so if you only get one fishing license you might get the Wyoming one.

Camping
The campground sites we reserved has quite a few pull in spaces for trailers and RVs (NO HOOK UPS) and many places to setup your tent to camp.

There are also many other campgrounds nearby that you can use or reserve on your own.

Cabins & Air BNBs
We are only 2 miles from Alpine, Wyoming so there are tons of cabins, hotels, and Air BNBs that you can rent if you would rather do that than camp. Even if you don't camp with us you can come hangout at the campground, we will have lots of parking.
