Small Zirdle Bug Flies Barbless (6 flies)
These Small Zirdle Bugs are tied on a Moonlit ML411 #10 Barbless Hook with Pine Squirrel zonkers strips.
Zirdle bugs are a popular fly pattern that can imitate various aquatic insects and critters such as stoneflies, crayfish or a buggy looking trout treat that gets attention with all of its legs. Zirdle bugs are great dead drifted or a slightly twitched motion. Its comes from the Montana area (and is highly popular there) but we have found them to work all over the place.
Includes 6 Small Zirdle Bug flies in either Olive or Natural color.
*NOTE: These work great on slightly stiffer action tenkara rods, will not cast well on very soft action tenkara rods. Using a line like the Oudachi, Tachi, Nodachi, or Tapered PVC Line will work best for casting. Obviously these are not a traditional tenkara fly but many people use them on tenkara rods, so we offer them.
Brent uses these Zirdle Bugs quite often on smaller rivers and medium rivers for bigger trout (14 inch to 26 inch). I commonly fish them with the HELLbender Big Fish tenkara rod because it casts bigger bugs easier and fights bigger fish better but they are light enough that they will cast on other traditional action tenkara rods.
